Lash extensions — styled sets

A styled set is lash extensions where we work not only with length and density but with shape. By mapping different lengths across the eye we can genuinely change the look of it: draw the eye out, open it up, lift the outer corner or soften a round shape.

This is where the “cat eye” belongs, with the lengths building towards the outer corner; the “doe eye”, longest in the centre; the “wet look”, built with denser fans; or a few coloured lashes worked in for a hint of colour.

When it is worth it

• You are not happy with the shape of your eyes and want to change it without make-up.
• Your outer corners drop — mapped correctly, lengths lift them.
• You want something built for your eyes rather than a standard set.
• You have a wedding, a photoshoot or an event coming up and want a stronger look.

How we choose the style

We go by the shape of your eye and the position of your brow, not by what is doing the rounds on social media. A cat eye on close-set eyes will pull them closer still, and a doe eye does not suit everyone. So we start with a consultation and map the set on the spot.

Building it takes longer than a standard set, because we work with several lengths and have to carry the transitions between them cleanly.

Retention and infills

As with any method, retention follows your own lash cycle — usually three to four weeks between infills. With a styled set, keeping to them matters even more: lose a few lashes in the wrong place and the shape goes long before a uniform set would look thin.

Looking after them at home

• No water, steam or sauna for the first 24 hours.
• Avoid oil-based removers and eyelash curlers.
• Brush daily with a spoolie; on a styled set that is what holds the shape.
• Always have them removed here, never at home.
