We fit hair extensions by three methods, and choosing between them matters more than choosing the length. It comes down to the condition of your hair, how often you want to come back for maintenance, and whether you mind being able to feel the bonds.
We work with real human hair, so it can be washed, blow-dried, curled and coloured. We match shade and texture so that the join does not show — with extensions that matters more than length.
Hot fusion (keratin bonds) is the most common. A weft with a keratin bond is fused to your own hair with a heat tool. The bond is the smallest and the least noticeable of all the methods. It does need healthy hair to carry it, and fitting takes time — around five and a half hours for a full head.
Micro rings attach each strand mechanically with a tiny ring. No heat, no adhesive. We use them on fine or weakened hair and for clients who would rather avoid a heat bond. The ring can be felt a little more, but moving the bonds up is quicker.
Tapes are the quickest option. A strand on a thin adhesive tape is sandwiched onto your own hair. They are excellent for adding density and easy to take out. They are less suited to high ponytails and buns.
Your hair grows at the root, so the bond travels away from the scalp and has to be moved back up: keratin after three to four months, micro rings after two to three, tapes after six to eight weeks. The hair itself can be reused.
Putting maintenance off is the single most common reason extensions start to matt and why the hair underneath comes out weakened. It is not a fault of the method.
With extensions, neither the price nor the length of the appointment can be judged in advance — it follows the length, the density and the number of strands. So once you have booked, we will call you, go through length, shade, texture and how much hair you need, and you will know the final figure before you arrive.
For tapes, the price list shows the price per tape, not for a full head.
Before you decide
There is no single best one. Hot fusion keratin has the smallest bond and suits healthy hair. Micro rings use neither heat nor adhesive, so they are the better choice for weakened hair. Tapes are the quickest and the best for adding density. We choose at the consultation, based on the state of your hair.
Hot fusion keratin is refitted after three to four months, micro rings after two to three, tapes after six to eight weeks. The hair itself can be reused.
Not when they are fitted properly and maintained on time. Problems come from wefts that are too heavy for fine hair, from putting maintenance off, and above all from pulling the bonds out at home — that is how most hair is lost.
Because they follow the length you want, the density and the number of wefts. Once you have booked we will call you, go through the details and tell you the final figure before you arrive. For tapes, the price in the price list is for one tape.
Yes, it is real human hair. Leave colouring to your hairdresser and tell them about the bonds — colour goes on away from them. Oil-based serums belong on the ends only; they break down both keratin and adhesive.
