Permanent make-up on lips is not about a made-up mouth. It is about giving back the colour and the readable edge the lips once had — with age most lips lose pigment and the border…
Permanent make-up deposits pigment into the upper layer of the skin. The result lasts for years, but it is not a tattoo — the pigment sits shallow and fades gradually. That is deliberate: brows, liner and lips can be adapted years later to how you have changed.
Brows are the most requested. The choice is between hair strokes, which imitate individual hairs, and powder brows, which look like a brow lightly filled with pencil. The technique follows your skin, not a photo you bring with you — on oilier skin, hair strokes blur.
Eyeliner is done either as a lash line enhancement, which fills the gaps between the lashes without reading as make-up, or as a classic liner drawn out towards the corner.
Lips get colour and a readable outline. We do not draw a hard lip line — it ages badly and it announces itself as pigment.
Permanent make-up takes two appointments. The first lays the pigment down; four to six weeks later comes the touch-up, which fills in whatever the skin did not keep and fine-tunes the shade. The touch-up is not a repair, it is a standard part of the treatment — every skin takes pigment unevenly, and each client's a little differently.
While it heals, the result first darkens, then flakes, then goes very pale before the colour comes back. So do not judge it in the first few days.
I do not carry out permanent make-up during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with uncontrolled diabetes, during isotretinoin treatment, with blood clotting disorders, with an acute illness or any inflammation in the area, or while you are on blood thinners without your doctor's approval. For lips, an active cold sore rules the appointment out; if you get cold sores, you will need preventive treatment beforehand as advised by your doctor.
If any of this applies to you, write to us in advance — we will either find a way round it or move the appointment.
Before you decide
Brows usually one to three years, eyeliner two to five, lips two to four. It depends on your skin, your aftercare and how much sun you get — on oily skin and with frequent sun, the pigment fades faster.

An anaesthetic goes on before we start, so it is comfortable. Lips and lids are more sensitive than brows, and there the numbing is topped up as we work. Sensitivity is higher around your period — the appointment can be planned around it.

No. The pigment sits shallower than in a tattoo and fades gradually. That is an advantage — years later the result can be brought in line with how your hair colour and your features have changed.
