Make-up

We do make-up for the occasions where it has to last and has to hold up in photographs. That is the real difference from everyday make-up: a camera does not see what the eye sees, and a face that looks perfect in the room can read as washed out on camera, or turn into a white patch under a flash.

What is in this category

Bridal make-up is built for the whole day — from the morning through to the evening, for photographs and for both daylight and artificial light. There are two options: make-up on the day itself, or make-up with a trial at a separate appointment beforehand.

Ball and prom make-up is stronger, because artificial light in a hall drains colour. A soft look that is exactly right in daylight all but disappears in the evening.

For a wedding, the trial pays for itself

At the trial we settle the shades, the intensity and how it is set, and we see how it wears on your skin — leave the trial in your make-up, wear it all day and tell us in the evening what survived. Above all, the trial shows up any reaction to a new product. That is not something you want to discover on the morning of the ceremony.

Book the trial four to six weeks before the wedding.

How to prepare

• Come with clean skin, no make-up.
• Have your brows done a few days ahead, not on the day.
• Have lash extensions or a lash lift done a few days beforehand too.
• Do not try a new cream or an exfoliant in the last few days.
• Bring a photograph of the dress — its colour and neckline decide the shades far more than any trend.
