Lash tint

A lash tint is the quickest way to define the eye without make-up. Your own lashes are tinted with a professional lash tint, usually black, so they read even without mascara. The difference is most striking on fair or blonde lashes, which without mascara all but disappear against the skin.

The appointment includes a tidy-up — we comb the lashes through and check whether a tint on its own will give you what you want, or whether a curl would make more sense.

When a tint on its own is enough

• Your lashes are fair or greying and you want them to show.
• The shape is already good and they point upwards.
• You are going on holiday or swimming and would rather not deal with mascara.
• You want to see how a defined eye suits you before committing to extensions.

If your lashes point downwards, a tint alone will change less than you might hope — that is the case for a lash lift, where the tint is done alongside the curl and the conditioning.

How it works

It is quick. We degrease the lashes, place a pad under the lower lid, apply the tint, let it develop and take it off. Your eyes stay closed and nothing is bonded to the skin. The tint is applied carefully so that none of it runs into the eye.

How long it lasts

Roughly four to six weeks, depending on how fast your lashes shed. The colour fades gradually rather than all at once.

Looking after them at home

• No sauna, and no facial scrub around the eye, for the first 24 hours.
• Oil-based removers will fade the tint faster.
• Otherwise there are no restrictions — nothing is bonded on, so there is nothing to protect.
